Gwen Hood, DVM

Regional Relief Veterinarian

Fun Fact: Dr. Hood loves to paint and is creating individual paintings of each bird species that frequents her home.

Although Dr. Hood has had a passion for helping animals since childhood, her original undergrad degree was in Greek and Roman history and English Literature. After graduation, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian and returned to SUNY Albany to complete her prerequisites for application into a DVM program. She earned her DVM degree from Ross University in 2011 and completed an internship at Blue Pearl outside of Chicago. After 10+ years as an associate DVM in Upstate New York, she delved into the world of relief work. Dr. Hood has a professional interest in geriatric medicine and completed her certification in hospice and palliative care. In her spare time, she enjoys golfing with her husband, bird watching, painting, and spending time with her two daughters and her pets.
