Bryan Blew

Chief Operating Officer

Fun Fact: Bryan was captain of the Air Force football team and presented President Bush with a personalized football jersey during the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy Ceremony in the White House.

Before joining Rarebreed, Bryan was COO of CareVet. Originally from the scissor-tailed flycatcher state of Oklahoma, Bryan now lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with his wife, their four children (ages 12-19), and their whoodle (a cross between the soft-coated Wheaten terrier and poodle), Junie. Bryan’s undergraduate degree is from the United States Air Force Academy, and his graduate degree is from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. He worked in a wide range of industries before joining veterinary health, including oilfield services and professional baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays! Bryan and his family love traveling and have spent time living abroad in Toronto and Shanghai.

Cam joined the Rarebreed team in March 2021 after working as a financial analyst for the in-house diagnostics line of business at IDEXX Laboratories. His focus was on developing dynamic key performance indicator-based analysis, dashboard creation, and investor reporting.

Cam’s earlier experience includes interning for two summers at Nestle Waters North America with the transportation finance team. He was born and raised in Maine, growing up in South Paris and later Lewiston. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management from the University of Maine. Out of the office, Cam likes to golf, freshwater fish, hike, and spend time with his large, close-knit family.

Rhonda Girard

Accounts Payable Specialist

Fun Fact: Rhonda is a beekeeper.

Rhonda comes to Rarebreed with a background in business administration and over 20 years of experience in budgeting and accounting in municipal government and banking.

A lover of dogs, Rhonda felt a connection to Rarebreed’s vision and culture and is proud to be a member of the Rarebreed family. Rhonda dreams of one day owning a food truck specializing in healthy rice bowls and all-natural dog treats. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and making memories with her grandchildren. She also enjoys traveling, yoga, mindfulness and meditation, and listening to live music. Rhonda resides in Lyman, Maine, with her husband and two dogs.

Melissa Dunn

Melissa Dunn

Staff Accountant

Fun Fact: Melissa teaches dog training classes – everything from behavior modification to agility – at the Richmond, Virginia, SPCA.

Melissa grew up in Minnesota and for her seventh birthday asked for a “vet kit.” Her mom bought her a stethoscope and rolled gauze and Melissa’s love of animal welfare was born. As an adult, Melissa sought roles as an animal welfare volunteer and a veterinary practice manager. She learned extensively about the veterinary industry and became passionate about comprehensive animal care. She also became interested in the world of finance and has worked professionally in various accounting roles since 2006 with a diverse assortment of companies ranging from transportation to investments. Melissa loves that she can unite her interests while serving and caring for the veterinary community through Rarebreed.

Melissa earned her BS in accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University and currently volunteers for the foster-based dog rescue she founded. In her free time, Melissa enjoys hiking with her dogs and gaming with friends.

Sherrie Hashey

Payroll Coordinator

Fun Fact: Sherrie loves to sew, and has sewed thousands of scarves for an Elvis impersonator who performed across the country.

Sherrie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education at the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. After teaching in Ohio, she returned to Maine where she tutored children for many years. She also worked in the business field where she found she loved working in payroll. And, because of her love for animals, she also worked at ​​​​​​​Kindred Spirits Veterinary Clinic, a Rarebreed partner hospital. It was the love, compassion, and values that she saw at Kindred Spirits that brought her to Rarebreed.

Sherrie comes from a large family and is next to the oldest of eight children. She lives in Old Town, Maine, with her dog, Elle, and cat, Cole. In her free time, Sherrie enjoys spending time with her family and taking Elle to the water.

Morgan Jennison

Prior to joining Rarebreed, Morgan spent three years working as a member of accounting and finance for ConvenientMD in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She attended Lesley University and the Art Institute of Boston, focusing on graphic design. Her creativity led her to Paul Mitchell the School in Portsmouth, where she studied and taught cosmetology. There, she found a passion for figures and finance as she took on a leading role in helping students navigate the FAFSA and the complexities of financial aid.

A lifelong native of the seacoast, Morgan currently lives in Portsmouth with her boyfriend, Aaron, and dog, Theotis. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially her younger sister and best friend, Kelsey. She enjoys camping and hiking in the White Mountains, reading, dancing, and a good glass of wine.

Kendall Kothe

VP of Finance, Planning & Analysis

Fun Fact: Kendall hiked the Cinque Terre while studying abroad in Perugia, Italy.

Kendall joined Rarebreed in 2020, after working as a senior financial analyst for the Companion Animal Group at IDEXX Laboratories. In her current role, she focuses on providing powerful financial data to drive critical business decisions and strategies.

Earlier in her career, Kendall worked as a senior accountant at American Realty Capital, focusing on real estate investment trusts for high-end commercial real estate and for Urban Outfitters on retail e-commerce and brick-and-mortar. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Northeastern University.

In her spare time, Kendall likes to travel, hike, stand-up paddleboard and spend time with her husband and daughter.

Fun Fact: Hallie learned how to knit when she was six and it remains one of her biggest passions.

Having studied art history in college, Hallie didn’t expect to end up working in the accounting field. But after several years of wearing many hats for a small business – including accounts payable – she became enamored with the world of debits and credits and sought additional education and work opportunities.

Hallie was attracted to Rarebreed because of its clear vision of people first. She is honored to work alongside a team that strives to create the best possible environment for veterinary professionals and their clients and patients.

Tammy Osgood

Fun Fact: Tammy used to be a pastry chef.

Tammy has worked in the accounting field for over 20 years and brings to Rarebreed a great deal of experience in payroll, human resources, benefits, and accounts payable and receivable. She thoroughly enjoys payroll and thrives in a busy environment where she can continue to learn new things.

Tammy recently moved back to her home state of Maine after 14 years in Florida. She is happy to be back and looks forward to welcoming more pets once she’s settled in her new home. Her interests include baking, cooking, and doing anything outdoors. She loves to kayak, hike, go camping, and work in the garden. She is currently learning sign language and looking forward to taking Spanish classes.

Krista O’Sullivan

Payroll Coordinator

Fun Fact: Krista plays softball in an adult coed recreational league; her favorite position is second base.

Krista comes to Rarebreed from a retail background of 29 years. Her retail experience includes roles in customer service, bookkeeping, management, human resources, payroll, and pharmacy. Most recently she worked as a certified pharmacy technician in a hospital setting. Krista says that one of her greatest accomplishments is becoming a mother and that family is her greatest treasure. When she’s not working, Krista enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, their dog, Marshall, and cat, Quinn. After honeymooning in Hawaii, Krista decided it was her favorite place, and she hopes to make another trip there with her whole family. Until then, their favorite spots to visit are Disney World and Discovery Cove.

Johanne was born and raised in Quebec City and is fluent in French. Before joining Rarebreed, she had an extensive career in the hospitality industry in finance and accounting. As an independent consultant, she spent 10 years traveling to over 20 hotels in 5 different countries, assisting in the accounting cycle, both in an operating and corporate environment. She later relocated to Portland with her husband and 2 rescue dogs to be closer to family and friends and later joined the City of Portland’s finance department. It was Johanne’s love of animals and desire to help make a difference that eventually brought her to Rarebreed.

Johanne holds a BSc in physiology from Laval University and an MBA from the University of Ottawa. In her free time, she likes to run, swim, bike, garden, bake and spend time with her husband, David, and her dogs, Max and Dakota.

Prior to joining the Rarebreed family in 2022, Clint spent seven years in the veterinary industry leading various finance teams, most recently as the finance business partner for IDEXX Laboratories’ software business. He also held finance roles supporting the company’s in-house diagnostics business, marketing programs/promotions, and corporate accounts. Clint holds an MBA from Saint Joseph’s College and a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Maine.

A native Mainer, Clint enjoys exploring the beautiful state with his wife and three boys. He loves skiing, hiking, and golfing, and anything to do with New England sports teams.

Vaishali Shroff

Staff Accountant, Mergers & Acquisitions

Fun Fact: In India, Vaishali represented her college in ping pong.

Vaishali was born and raised in India, where she enjoyed a rich cultural environment. She pursued a career as a company secretary, a title comparable to corporate attorney in the United States, gaining expertise in corporate law and due diligence.

In 2017, Vaishali moved to the United States and earned a master’s degree in finance from the University of New Hampshire. Her love for animals and the values that Rarebreed exemplifies motivated her to join the company. Outside of work, Vaishali enjoys painting, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Fun Fact: Laurie lived in the bay area of California in 1989, only 50 miles from the epicenter of the 7.0 earthquake that rocked the World Series and cracked the foundation of her apartment building.

Before joining Rarebreed, Laurie spent five years in payroll working for a large energy company with locations throughout the US and Canada. Before that, she worked within the accounting groups for an insurance company, processing retroactive billings.

She enjoys working as a team and loves researching and solving problems. She lives in western Maine and enjoys outdoor activities such as snowmobiling and riding ATVs with her children, a son and four daughters. Her family also includes two senior dogs and three cats.

Kenzie Braden

People Operations Manager

Kenzie grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis where she began competitively swimming at a young age. After a successful high school swimming career, she accepted an offer to attend and swim for West Virginia University, where she was named captain her senior year.

After graduating from WVU with a marketing degree, she was presented with the opportunity to move to Maine. She quickly fell in love with the state and knew she had to stay. After gaining experience in human resources, she learned of a job opportunity with a start-up company – Rarebreed Veterinary Partners. Once she met the team, she instantly felt at home. Kenzie has been with Rarebreed since September 2019 and works as an HR generalist, helping to create a work environment that invests in and inspires its employees.

Melissa has a diverse background in human resources that includes change management, recruitment, employee relations and policy development. Before joining Rarebreed, she worked in HR for TJX, Inc. and Rogers Corporation within the distribution and manufacturing industries. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University.

Melissa truly enjoys supporting her teams as they continuously improve and approach new challenges. When she isn’t entertaining her dogs, cat and chickens, she enjoys reading and completing jigsaw puzzles. Melissa is excited to be part of Rarebreed’s dedicated and passionate HR team.

Joannie Ingraham

People Operations Business Partner

Joannie was drawn to Rarebreed to help change the veterinary industry for the better. She enjoys connecting with employees and wants to help positively affect and compassionately support the employee experience in this very demanding industry. Joannie earned a BA in psychology and an associate degree in hotel/restaurant management. She spent 12 years in human resources at AAA and held positions at LL Bean, Aetna and an Insurance staffing firm in Woodland Hills, California. While living in southern California, she studied massage therapy and worked for spas, chiropractors and for herself. She often worked on the set of Everybody Loves Raymond, where she learned that celebrities are just people with aches and pains.

Joannie has two awesome stepsons. She and her husband live in Cumberland, Maine, with her daughter and two cats. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking and just being outside.

Katrina Meade

Katrina has always enjoyed working with people and helping them grow. She graduated from Westbrook College with a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a concentration in elementary education. After graduating, Katrina learned about the field of Human Resources and knew that it would be a perfect fit to combine her passion for working with people and teaching them. Before joining Rarebreed, she spent 17 years in Human Resources working for a variety of organizations in all aspects of the field. Katrina is excited to be part of Rarebreed, a growing organization that values compassion and respect.

In her free time, Katrina enjoys cooking, photography and spending time by the ocean.

Having worked in human resources for over 20 years, Tracy has experience in the manufacturing, healthcare, social services and legal fields. She believes she found her calling, as she truly enjoys what she does.

Tracy has a diverse background in human resources that includes leadership, change management, recruitment, employee training and development, policy development, benefits and payroll. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from Southern New Hampshire University and holds Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Society for Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certifications.

In her free time, Tracy enjoys snowshoeing golfing, and fishing. When the crazy New England weather doesn’t permit her to be outside, she enjoys relaxing by reading a good mystery book, sitting by an indoor fire or playing a game of cards. She is excited to be part of this team of dedicated professionals.

Jaime Swart

Jaime is originally from upstate New York but moved to Maine with her family in third grade. She graduated from SUNY Canton with a bachelor’s in veterinary administration and earned her veterinary technician license. After working as an LVT in emergency medicine and completing a veterinary management internship, she started a role in accounting and human resources. During her three years there, she moved into an HR generalist role and managed the HR department for the company. Jaime is very excited to bring to Rarebreed both her veterinary experience and human resources background, finally combining her passion to help both people and animals.

Jaime shares her Maine home with her boyfriend, Andy, dog, Jaxon, cat, Pam, and Hermann’s tortoise, Tortellini. She enjoys hiking, camping, playing basketball in an adult league, watching Syracuse basketball, playing board games, hosting game nights, and taking care of her many houseplants.

As an army kid, Jordan had the travel bug instilled in him from a young age. He lived in Hawaii and Germany, with many states and countries in between, before settling in Maine with his wife, drawn to the state’s wonderfully lush outdoors, beautiful coastline, and proximity to family.

Jordan’s lifelong love of animals led him to a career in animal welfare, working in shelters both directly with animals and with volunteers, and then to a state-level program related to care, licensing and inspection for pet facilities. After a brief stopover in the brewing industry, Jordan transitioned to information technology and security. He feels that joining Rarebreed was a wonderful mix of old and new pursuits.

When not working, Jordan loves cooking, hiking, craft beer, and – as a Metal and Punk fan – loud and fast live music.

David Kimball

Director of Product Management

Fun Fact: Dave is the eldest of 6 siblings.

Prior to joining the Rarebreed family in 2021, Dave spent 15 years in the veterinary industry with roles that included repair of blood analyzers, data analysis, and leading the vision and strategy for a veterinary software product. During this time, he developed a passion for understanding the needs of veterinary practice teams and building team cultures focused on providing the best solution for those end users. Dave looks forward to continuing his mission at Rarebreed and feels in sync with the company’s core values of love, respect, and fun and its purpose-driven culture.

A native Mainer, Dave enjoys exploring all that this beautiful state has to offer. He also loves boating, fly fishing and cooking for family and friends. He lives in Gorham, Maine, with his two children and their dog, Baxter.

Biswa Prakash

Chief Technology Officer

Raised in a family of world-renowned scientists, Biswa has a creative mind for innovation and solving problems. In his 20+ years of software development experience as an individual contributor and people leader, he has delivered efficient, high-quality customer-facing and back-end solutions in the e-commerce, healthcare and veterinary domains.

Biswa’s software development mantra is to build software that will change people’s lives for the better. He brings an immense level of enthusiasm and creativity into every facet of software development and strongly believes in adopting and incorporating technologies to simplify and shorten solutions and timelines.

In his spare time, Biswa enjoys playing the Tabla. He studied it professionally from his Guru from the age of four until 22, even performing in a few shows. Biswa also previously taught music.

David Searle bridges the gap between operating a business efficiently and securing a business effectively by putting his seven years of industry experience to work for Rarebreed and its valued partners. His background is rooted in IT Operations and Security. He has experience in large-scale, nationwide hotel chain cloud and physical environments and cutting-edge research facilities located here in the great state of Maine. If he’s not stuck behind a computer, you can find him restoring his historic home or out on the first tee at his local club, hopefully finding a fairway.

Kelly Slocomb

Paralegal & Legal Assistant

Fun Fact: The first time Kelly got on a plane, it was to jump out and skydive.

Before joining Rarebreed Kelly worked at Norman, Hanson & DeTroy law firm where she supported three attorneys in the Commercial Group. Her job included overseeing the formation of LLC corporations, organizing closing documents and keeping companies in good standing. Kelly has an associate degree in marine biology from Southern Maine Community College and is passionate about marine life, with a special interest in sharks. One day she hopes to fulfill her dream of swimming or cage diving with them.

In her free time, Kelly enjoys amateur photography, gardening, kayaking, playing kickball and spending time with her family and friends, which includes her four cats, Destiny, Oreo, Cayde and Vayda. She enjoys traveling and would love to visit Australia.

Amanda David

Senior Payroll Accountant

Fun Fact: Amanda’s first flight, at the age of 18, was from Boston to Tokyo, where she and her English handbell choir performed at an international handbell symposium.

Amanda comes to Rarebreed with over 20 year’s experience in finance and accounting. She’s spent much of her career working as part of the accounting operations team of a Fortune 100 company in P&C insurance, handling all things payroll accounting. While there, she implemented many process improvements, increased efficiency, and streamlined procedures, saving the company hundreds of work hours annually. Amanda loves accounting and looks forward to learning new things every day.

Amanda received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting/finance from Southern New Hampshire University. She lives in the foothills of the Lake’s Region in New Hampshire with her husband, two children, and dog, Simba. In her spare time, she can be found attending ballet classes, being a dance mom to her two kids, spending time with her extended family, or gardening in her yard.

Eric Chabot

VP of Accounting & Controller

Fun Fact: Eric has a twin brother – but they have different birthdays.

Driven, analytical and detail-oriented, Eric is an accounting professional with 10 years of experience. At Rarebreed, he manages day-to-day accounting operations, implements internal controls and handles complex activities, including acquisitions and consolidations. Eric also operates as the fund coordinator for a local non-profit organization in his hometown of Gorham, New Hampshire.

Prior to Rarebreed, Eric earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting Finance from Southern New Hampshire University. He spent five years in public accounting as a financial statement auditor, gaining expertise in the healthcare and banking industries. Eric then transitioned into the private sector, serving as the controller for an urgent care network for over three years.

In his free time, Eric enjoys a good Netflix binge, spending time with his wife and rescue dog, Sadie, finding the latest craft breweries and playing golf.

Janine’s career in communications – including marketing, copy editing, and writing – along with her lifelong love of animals, led her to Rarebreed. Although she’s worked in a variety of industries, including publishing, medical and security imaging, and computer software, it wasn’t until she joined Rarebreed that she felt a true connection. At Rarebreed, she’s able to do the work she enjoys the most for a company that helps the people who care for animals.

A native New Englander, Janine earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing from the University of Rhode Island. She lives in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, with her husband, their dogs, Chico and Bernie, and their cats, Mr. Jones and Nana. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling abroad, listening to audiobooks, and watching British crime series.

Rachael Hook

Practice Consultant

Fun Fact: Rachael is certified in Wildlife Chemical Capture and Immobilization from the Wildlife Science Center in Stacy, Minnesota.

Rachael’s veterinary career began in 2012 as a volunteer kennel assistant at Garland Road Small Animal Hospital in Winslow, Maine. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Unity College while working as a customer service representative, veterinary technician, manager, then practice manager at Garland Road.

Rachael first joined the Rarebreed family in December 2019 when they partnered with Garland Road. Now part of the Business Transformation Team, she is eager to help new veterinary hospitals join the growing Rarebreed family.

Rachael lives on a small farm in rural Maine. Her interest in wildlife research led her to Minnesota for research with wolves and bears, and to Pennsylvania for elk calf research. In her free time, Rachael enjoys working with her own animals, which include multiple cows, two Golden Retrievers, Bennett and Riley, Cali the cat, and Bonk the rabbit.

Dan Espinal

CEO & Co-Founder

Fun Fact: Dan was a hockey goalie in high school.

Before co-founding Rarebreed, Dan headed IDEXX Laboratories’ in-house chemistry business and Corporate Development and Strategy team. There, he led and executed global acquisitions, managed the annual strategic planning process and structured complex partnerships to serve as the technology for new companion animal diagnostic pillars. During his career, Dan also worked as a venture capital investor at Allied Minds plc, focusing on internet and communication technologies. And he was a management strategy consultant at JSA Partners (formerly AT Kearney), a mergers and acquisitions and strategy consultancy in Boston.

Dan is a combat veteran and Airborne Ranger-qualified infantry officer with service time as a combat advisor embedded with the Afghan National Civil Order Police. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Sloan School of Business) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations from Tufts University.

An active triathlete, he resides in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, with his wife, three children, and his dog, Boomer.

Kristy Greco

Before joining the Rarebreed family in 2019, Kristy spent 10 years as the controller and head of human resources for the US subsidiary of a UK publicly traded company. Her first foray into business came when she joined Coopers & Lybrand (later PricewaterhouseCoopers) after studying psychology at Smith College. From there, she began auditing and working at different client sites every few weeks, which gave her experience with many different people and businesses.

Kristy obtained her MBA from the University of Southern Maine and has held a multitude of positions in accounting, finance, and human resources/people operations in businesses such as IDEXX Laboratories and L.L. Bean.

With a passion for working with people, Kristy enjoys roles where she can work and meet with large groups of people. Her experience at Rarebreed so far has been amazing and a ton of fun along the way. Kristy lives in Cumberland, Maine, with her husband, two daughters, two German shorthair pointers, and a dwarf bunny.

Along with the Rarebreed mission of love, respect and fun, Jeremy was initially drawn to Rarebreed because of the authenticity, mindfulness and intelligence of the entire team. His breadth of experience in systems, development and leadership roles has created an opportunity for Rarebreed to differentiate its technical solutions in the veterinary profession. While focusing on security and ease of use for practice teams, Jeremy also leads the charge to integrate all internal and external software tools across the ecosystem.

Prior to joining Rarebreed, Jeremy achieved significant success in a broad and diverse range of technical leadership roles for both start-ups and larger corporations. He focuses on bringing secure, reliable, scalable and highly integrated solutions to the veterinary profession.

Jeremy is passionate about all aspects of wellness and improving himself – and says there is no better activity for downtime than a walk on the beach with his children and puppy.

Prior to co-founding Rarebreed, Sean held various roles at IDEXX Laboratories on the Corporate Development & Strategy and Corporate Accounts teams. Before IDEXX, Sean was a corporate strategy leader at PTC in Boston.

He began his career holding finance and partnership roles at State Street Corporation and Sprint Nextel prior to moving to management consulting at Accenture. Sean is also a co-founder of Mattie’s Treats, a specialty pet food company that provides treats for dogs with kidney disease while funding research with proceeds.

Sean holds a Master of Business Administration from the Owen School of Management at Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance from Villanova University.

He lives in Kennebunk, Maine, with his wife, two children, and their dogs, Tenney and Rosie.

Brent has spent his career in the animal health industry, most recently leading Finance for IDEXX Laboratories’ in-house diagnostics business. Brent played a critical role in establishing IDEXX’s Latin America operations, spending six months in Brazil to ensure a successful post-merger integration. He was also instrumental in the merger with Dechra Pharmaceuticals while at Putney Vet.

Brent holds a Master of Science in Accounting from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southern Maine.

Brent resides in South Portland, Maine, with his wife, Jess and a 5-year-old black cat, commonly referred to as the “black panther.”

Prior to joining Rarebreed as its general counsel, Darya was a partner at a prominent Portland law firm where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions, corporate and intellectual property laws. During that time, she had served as Rarebreed’s outside general counsel since its founding in 2018. While in private practice, Darya focused her pro bono efforts on helping immigrants and churches, and for many years was involved with the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project. Darya is a published author and was consistently selected by her peers for inclusion in the Super Lawyers and Rising Stars publication. She received a J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Minsk State Linguistic University.

After spending 23 years in North Carolina working in NASCAR, selling real estate and rescuing dogs, she relocated to Maine and joined Rarebreed to combine her career with her passion for and love of animals. LouAnn spends her free time with her dog, Fender, and her family, which includes 15 nieces and nephews.

Virginia Gill, DVM, DACVIM

Board-certified in oncology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Dr. Gill currently serves as head of the Oncology Department, as well as the Medical Director at Maine Veterinary Medical Center. She was named Rarebreed Director of Wellness and Sustainability, following her passion to support and foster the well-being of those in the veterinary profession.

Dr. Gill began her veterinary career by earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University. She completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery, followed by a three-year residency in oncology at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Prior to moving to Maine, Dr. Gill practiced in Bedford Hills, New York and New York City, where she was named a Top Westchester Veterinarian from 2012-2015.

Dr. Gill loves all things wellness and looks forward to serving as a steward for well-being within the company – and beyond.

Shannon’s career path has been guided by her passion for animals and animal science. She spent two years in equine studies and a year learning to be a veterinary technician. After taking on many veterinary practice roles, she decided to become a practice manager and eventually went to work at Casco Bay Veterinary Hospital where she met Rarebreed Co-founder Sean Miller.

At Rarebreed, Shannon is putting her accounting skills to work. Her management style, organizational skills and congenial personality make her a great Rarebreed team member and motivator. Her plans for the future include earning the Certified Veterinary Practice Manager credential and continuing her accounting studies at Husson University.

Pat grew up on a farm in New Hampshire with his sisters and plenty of animals. Weekends consisted of lacrosse tournaments or bailing and delivering hay to surrounding towns, which Pat quickly learned was not normal for most teenage boys in New Hampshire. His first job was at a local grain and hardware store, where among other things, he got his family a nice discount!

Pat earned a degree in finance and analytics with a minor in computer science from the University of New Hampshire. He met Dan and Sean during his internship at IDEXX where he spent his summer on the Corporate Development and Strategy team. After graduating, Pat worked at a real estate investment firm before joining Rarebreed to help build its partnership network. Outside of work you can find Pat out with his dogs, Lulu and Bruin, or at Jibe cycling studio.

Currently residing in Boston, Mariam was born in the country of Georgia and speaks three languages – and is currently learning a fourth. Justin grew up in Tolland, Connecticut, in a small family where all they knew was sports. Whether it was going to UConn basketball games during the week, or Red Sox games on the weekend, there was always athletics involved. He recently moved to Scarborough, Maine, and is excited to go on adventures and see all that Vacationland has to offer.

Justin graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2021 with a degree in finance. He was a Rarebreed intern before joining full-time. Before that, he interned at Retirement Visions LLC and Virtus Asset Management. Justin has always had a soft spot in his heart for animals and wants to do everything he can to help deliver them the best possible veterinary experience.

Brendan Ganguzza

Brendan’s veterinary career started in 2014 as a hospital manager for three general practices in the Houston, Texas, area. He then moved into a transition management role within the company to help acclimate practices coming into the network. He later took on the role of being an operations support manager for several specialty and ER practices within the company. Looking for a change, Brendan decided to get some direct management experience of a large Specialty and ER practice in Northern New Jersey. He quickly realized his calling was meant to be back in regional operations helping support hospital teams to be able to deliver exceptional care to patients and clients.

Outside of work Brendan enjoys spending time with his significant other, daughter, two cats, two dogs, one rabbit, and playing rugby and chess.

You could say Brent’s veterinary experience started at birth. He began at a very young age riding around on farm calls with his dad who was a large animal veterinarian. He then worked for his family’s small animal practice throughout his high school and college years. Once he graduated, he began as a practice manager for the family business. Years later they sold to a large consolidator and he was promoted to regional operations manager. He sought out change to Rarebreed as a director to continue to help support hospital operations, so they have the tools and team to provide the best care to their client’s four-legged family members.

Brent enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, two dogs and two cats. He loves camping, traveling, golf, football and basketball.

Nare has had a passion for animal care since she was a child, always working in wildlife rehab and animal rescue centers. While pursuing a bachelor’s degree in animal science, she worked part-time in primary veterinary medicine and was drawn to the challenges of emergency and specialty medicine. She worked as a technician for 15 years in emergency, oncology, and dermatology, and found her calling in cultivating the relationship between owners, clinicians, and technicians to determine the best treatment for their patients. Nare took an administrative role in a large emergency and specialty hospital to support her team while elevating the client experience. She joined Rarebreed because of the company’s focus on nurturing and creating a healthy team dynamic that results in outstanding patient care.

In her free time, Nare enjoys hiking with her dogs, kayaking, cooking, and reading.

Susan began her veterinary career in Portland, Maine, in Emergency Medicine. She pursued her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Maine, and ultimately earned her technician license. After more than a decade in emergency medicine, she took on a management role at a specialty hospital, Maine Veterinary Medical Center. Susan remained in management while enjoying some time in general practice and has been fortunate to work with amazing veterinary professionals, building bonds and friendships that include all layers of the veterinary community. At Rarebreed, she looks forward to using her experience to support veterinary staff and help improve their work-life balance.

When she isn’t working, Susan enjoys spending time with her three daughters. They share their home with two rescue dogs and three cats and like hiking and spending time on the water together.

Wendy has been fortunate to work in veterinary medicine her entire career. She started in day practice, later working in emergency and specialty medicine. Wendy has assisted in hospital ground-up build-outs and is grateful to have seen the value they bring to the region’s pets. She feels fortunate to serve on a local government commission for the humane treatment of animals, and a non-profit organization providing funding for veterinary urgent care.

Wendy enjoys horseback riding and spending time on the water with her family, and shares her home with her well-loved dogs, horses and kitty. She appreciates that Rarebreed shares her passion for enhancing the human-animal bond

Katie began her veterinary journey in 2007 as a kennel attendant for a mixed-animal practice in rural Ohio. She worked her way up the ladder over the years, earning responsibilities in leadership. Looking for a fresh set of challenges, Katie transitioned to a hospital manager role for several years, still in rural Ohio – but in a less flat part of the state! In 2020, looking for a new hill to climb, Katie relocated to Maine, sight unseen, to join the Rarebreed pack.

Katie, her husband and youngest child live on a homestead where they raise most of their own food and the occasional ruckus. In her free time, Katie can usually be found outside, and hardly ever in the kitchen.

Dr. Elaine Yip was born and raised in San Francisco, California. Her first time living outside of California was when she ventured to the Midwest to attend veterinary school at Purdue University. After graduation, Elaine went into small animal general practice and practiced for 8 years with Banfield, NVA and VCA prior to joining Rarebreed. She was chief of staff for most of her tenure while practicing and has been credited with substantially growing the practices she has managed. She enjoys team building through thoughtful communication and designing effective practices. Elaine is eager to take her day-to-day knowledge of practice management to a regional scale in order to help hospitals continue to provide top-notch care, while growing Rarebreed.

Elaine shares her Massachusetts home with her husband and their Jack Russell Terrier mix. In their free time, they enjoy traveling and nature hiking.

Taylor comes to Rarebreed after working as a commercial transactional attorney at a Portland law firm where he assisted clients with mergers and acquisitions, commercial lease negotiations and the purchase and sale of real estate. Prior to that, he worked at the Maine Business Court where he advised judges on issues arising during complex commercial litigation. He also worked at a local district attorney’s office where he prosecuted criminal cases. Taylor is excited to join Rarebreed and continue building its collaborative and partnership-oriented approach to providing the best veterinary care to its patients.

Out of the office, Taylor enjoys the never-ending struggle to become a competent guitar player and spending time with his family.

Melissa was that kid in school who knew every jingle to every commercial, so it was only natural that when she attended Bryant University she chose to major in marketing. What she didn’t expect, however, was that she could combine her love of marketing with her love of animals.

After a short stint in hospitality marketing and auction marketing, Melissa began her love affair with the veterinary industry. In 2021 she joined Rarebreed, bringing experience in practice, corporate, digital and events marketing. She’s elated to be part of the Rarebreed marketing team and looks forward to helping the industry reimagine the veterinary experience.

In her spare time, Melissa enjoys rehabbing her old house (circa 1792!), cooking and traveling. She’s joined in these adventures by her husband, two children and dog, Penny.

Nir Ben-Ari, DVM

Chief Medical Officer

Fun Fact: Dr. Ben-Ari is an avid surfer and will (occasionally) be seen braving a New England winter day in the water.

Dr. Ben-Ari was born in Israel but spent most of his childhood in the Boston area. He and his family relocated to Israel while he was in high school. Shortly after finishing school, he was enlisted into the Israeli Airforce where he served for three years. He later obtained a degree in biology with a business minor at Boston University, followed by a veterinary degree at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. He attended a small animal rotating internship in San Diego, where he fell in love with emergency medicine and surgery. Back in the Boston area, he worked as an emergency veterinarian for six years. During that time, he noticed a need for an “urgent care” type of service within the industry. He founded PetMedic Urgent Care, opened its first clinic in 2020, and later partnered with Rarebreed to replicate the model. He enjoys teaching, mentoring staff, and interacting with clients. He and his wife have two sons. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, sports, spending time with his family, and seeing his boys grow.

Isabella has a strong passion for animal care. Ever since she was a child, she’s wanted to help every animal in need. Isabella began her veterinary career by working as a customer experience advocate in a 24-hour emergency hospital, working countless long nights and enjoying every second of chaos that vet med brings to the table. She graduated from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, with a degree in political science and a concentration in politics, philosophy, and law. She grew up in North Jersey and spent most of her summers on her quaint little beach down at the Jersey Shore. Britt graduated from Temple University with a degree in human resource management and began her career as an HR generalist at a mid-sized workers’ compensation company. She left after four years to follow her life-long passion for animals and join the veterinary healthcare world. She spent five years as a practice manager at a feline-only practice where she became a professional fear-free cat wrangler. Britt then returned to her HR roots and earned her SHRM Certified Professional Certification while working as an HR supervisor at a small law firm.

Britt lives in Mount Airy, Philadelphia, with her partner, Adolfo, and her three pups, Snoopy, Bailey, and Oliver. In her free time, Britt enjoys traveling, reading, running, hiking with her dogs, and going to Orange Theory Fitness classes.

Melanie comes to Rarebreed with over 20 years of experience in the veterinary world including as a client service manager, practice manager, and, most recently, referral coordinator at a 24-hour emergency, specialty, and general medicine practice. She has always had a passion for animals and has never been without one in her life. She was an avid 4H member and has shown many of her pets, including dogs, guinea pigs, horses, and even cows.

When she’s not busy designing wedding flowers or helping her husband, Kevin, with his Cornwell Tools franchise, Melanie and Kevin enjoy camping throughout New England, often in Maine, with their Corgis. She also likes spending time with her grandson and her three grown children who she’s lucky to have still living in the same town.

Prior to joining Rarebreed, Jim spent 15 years at IDEXX in a variety of leadership positions. With 10 years in IT leading software development teams and large strategic projects, he established the IT PMO. He then moved to the reference labs where he built a global PMO that grew to 25 project managers with a portfolio that included acquisitions, new instrument platforms, PCR automation, digital pathology, software projects, and new labs around the world.

Jim served in the US Army as a pathfinder and infantry officer. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Brenau University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Augusta State University. He also attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and is a licensed private pilot. Jim enjoys Maine outdoor activities, especially chasing his daughter down the hill at Sugarloaf. He lives in Scarborough, Maine, with his wife, daughter, rescue plot hound, Lucy, and German shepherd, Mac.

Jen brings extensive experience in payroll, human resources and leave administration in areas that include the automotive industry, the mortgage industry, nonprofit and retail. Her true passion is payroll, and she enjoys the pressure of payroll processing, analyzing numbers and working with Excel!

Jen has lived in Maine her whole life and recently purchased a condo in Old Orchard Beach with her two cats, Sophie and Buddy. In her free time, she enjoys cooking new recipes from Pinterest, kayaking, watching sports, traveling and taking advantage of walking on the nearby beaches.

Tim grew up in central Massachusetts and earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Boston University. Afterward, he spent eight years in the US Navy as a nuclear engineering officer before returning to Massachusetts to work as a project engineer and later an operations manager at a local utility company. While working there he completed an MS degree in engineering management at Tufts University. He then worked in facilities and lab management in the life science industry in Cambridge, Mass., before joining Rarebreed.

Tim and his wife, Sarah, live in Medford, Mass., with their pandemic pup, Russell, and spend most of their weekends in Maine with friends and family. Tim loves to travel and enjoys the outdoors — camping, hiking, biking, snowboarding, and paddleboarding. In his spare time, he also loves cooking, especially making pizza and grilling.

Brion Reagor, DVM

Relief Veterinarian

Fun Fact: Dr. Reagor was a nationally ranked gymnast in high school and worked out nine hours a day.

Dr. Reagor began his passionate, lifetime career in veterinary medicine at the young age of 13 as a kennel assistant. In north Dallas, Texas, he was able to grow in a successful small animal practice, experiencing each available staffing position. He officially became a veterinarian in 1995, graduating from Texas A&M University.

In 2004, Dr. Reagor built a small animal practice in Berwick, Maine. He sold his practice in 2018, finishing his commitment as Chief of Staff in 2020.

Rarebreed has provided Dr. Reagor the foundation to continue to grow professionally in veterinary medical operations.

Christie graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, with a degree in business administration and a concentration in marketing, human resources, and international business. Christie’s HR career began in the wine and spirits industry where she spent 17 years as a regional human resources manager servicing the New York tri-state area. She was drawn to Rarebreed as she sought to align her career in human resources with her passion for animal welfare.

Christie and her husband, Robbie, split their time between living in Westchester County and Ulster County, New York. Together they have a rescue kitty, Logan Fuzzybottoms. In her free time, Christie enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible, hiking, biking, kayaking, trail running, and spending time tending to her garden of native plants.

Andrew attended York County Community College and has been working in the technology field for over 15 years. Starting from a modest beginning as a Staples Easy Tech, Andrew has worked with technology in healthcare, retail, manufacturing, government, and MSP environments. All of this has led to a breadth of lessons learned through experience in the field.

He has always been a geek and has been fascinated with technology since he was seven years old. Andrew has always been motivated to be the change he wanted to see in the world and strives to make tech support a team effort custom-tailored to each user.

When he is not working you can find Andrew working on projects around the house or spending time with his wife and three young children. Beach days are always great, and summer is by far his favorite season in Maine.

Millie received a BS in wildlife biology from the University of Vermont and an AS in veterinary technology from Foothill College. During her time at UVM, she fell in love with dog training and went on to become a certified dog trainer. She owned and operated a training school while actively competing with her own dogs.

Millie’s love of the human-animal bond led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She spent 17 years as a registered veterinary technician and has experience in emergency medicine, neurology, and general practice, and extensive training in anesthesia and critical care. Her passion and love of veterinary medicine have led her to the Rarebreed team. Millie lives in Vermont with her husband, three Doberman pinschers, one cat, and twelve chickens.

Bernetta thrives on making connections with people and facilitating difficult conversations and direct communication. She processed payroll for nurses and allied health professionals and worked directly with the operations and software development team to create the company’s own mobile app for payroll and scheduling.

Outside of work, Meredith is studying to be a Sommelier; becoming a Master of Wine is a personal goal of hers. She is a diehard Chicago Bears fan and an avid fantasy football player. In her free time, outside of enjoying a glass of wine, of course, she loves cooking, creating craft cocktails, camping, and hiking with her three dogs.

Belle is a proud Mainer, born in Portland and raised in Kennebunkport. She is a loving cat mom of two and a clinically skilled LVT. After graduating with high honors from the University of New Hampshire in 2015, she went into general veterinary practice. A vital member of the surgical team, Belle was also the designated trainer for vet tech student interns. Belle’s main interest is veterinary anesthesiology and gaining and sharing new knowledge with her team members.

Growing up, Belle was an equestrian and animal enthusiast. Cats are her favorite! She is a competitive bodybuilder and holds an Overall Bikini Champion title. When not working, you can find her at the gym lifting weights and getting ready for her next national show season.

Arian is a California native who moved to Oregon and lived there for quite some time before relocating to Colorado for graduate school. After a decade being landlocked, she desired both the mountains and the ocean again, and Maine satisfied both without the very real threat of wildfire. She earned her BA in history from the University of Oregon while raising two children, and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Denver. During her career, she held various administrative roles that prepared her for her position as the office manager at Rarebreed.

Prior to that, he spent five years in Boston, working as an advisory consultant for accounting firms EY and BDO, servicing clients across North America and Europe. He specialized in process optimization, contract compliance, and risk mitigation across serval industries such as healthcare, financial services, and professional sports and entertainment.

Jacob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire where he dual majored in finance and accounting. Sarah has spent her career advocating for accessible wellness care. She is passionate about animal health and helping all pets live their best lives filled with treats, naps in the sun and zoomies. Sarah spent nearly a decade as one of the founding members of Vets First Choice (now Covetrus) before joining the FidoCure mission to bring personalized medicine to dogs with cancer. Her time has been spent in sales, marketing and serving veterinarians.

Sarah holds a BS in psychology from Simmons University and was trained by the Disney Institute in Quality Service. She shares her little farmhouse in Cumberland Center, Maine, with 3 teenagers, a Goldendoodle named Ted, a smallish bunny and at least 93 houseplants.

Those aspirations never wavered as he navigated through his academic years, ultimately culminating in a rewarding life spent giving care to those without a voice – and counsel to those that love them.

Dr. Ouellette knows the challenges and rewards of veterinary life at every level, from early days as a receptionist at a busy Montreal clinic, to his current role as partner and practice leader at Casco Bay Veterinary Hospital.

By sharing insights into what binds devoted animal caretakers and shining a light on the profession’s opportunities for improvement, he hopes to play a role in helping colleagues achieve both personal and professional success by enjoying the benefits of a Rarebreed partnership.

Having joined Rarebreed in February 2020, Ashley is the Swiss Army knife of the company and brings a broad range of experience and skills to the Rarebreed community.

Her extensive work in executive and administrative assistant roles at The Beacon Group in Portland, Piper Shores in Scarborough, IDEXX in Westbrook and eight years at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor has sharpened her communication skills to meet client and company needs. Ashley’s career also includes excelling as a real estate broker of high-end properties and working in sales and public relations with fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto in New York City.

Ashley lives in South Portland, Maine, is an avid cyclist, and loves spending time outdoors with her family and her two dogs. She is also a certified Les Mills group fitness instructor and teaches Rarebreed’s online fitness classes as part of our dedication to wellness.

She went to college at the University of St. Thomas, where she earned a degree in marketing and communications with a minor in accounting. During and after college she worked in a veterinary clinic as a marketing manager. She later moved to Southern California and worked for Embrace Pet Insurance and then Patterson Veterinary Supply. To give back to her local animal community, Shaylee serves as a board member for the Minnesota Spay and Neuter Association. Shaylee loves going on adventures with her rescue dog, Niko. She also enjoys hiking, scuba diving, horseback riding, and traveling.

Dr. Allen application essay for veterinary school began with, “I want to be a veterinarian because I want to work with people.” As much as she loves biology, medicine and animals, Kate is also passionate about public speaking, acting and teaching. She’s been balancing this odd mix of interests by working with pets while also exploring the incredible world of scientific medicine.

While completing pre-veterinary courses at Cornell, she majored in archaeology and conducted a study on the territorial behaviors of seagulls (note: do not underestimate them). After college, she taught in a fourth-grade classroom for a year before returning to Cornell for veterinary school, during which she helped develop a summer school program for high schoolers interested in pursuing veterinary medicine. After several years in private practice, Kate is excited to help the Medical Operations team deliver medical excellence Rarebreed partners and clients.

Linda’s teaching experience began when she was just a teenager, heavily involved in the United States Pony Club as a member, instructor and regional examiner. She finds nothing more rewarding than helping someone else in their quest for learning. Since becoming a licensed veterinary technician, she has devoted herself to helping her co-workers elevate their veterinary practices.

Linda earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal and Veterinary Science at the University of Maine, Orono, and has been working as a licensed Veterinary Technician since 1996 in both large and small animal practices. For the past 10 years, she worked at an emergency and specialty practice focusing on surgery.

Linda lives in Scarborough, Maine, with her husband, daughter and two Siamese cats.

Sarah Horn, DVM

Fun Fact: Dr. Horn has cage dived with great white sharks off the coast of South Africa and snorkeled with whale sharks off the coast of Mozambique.

Dr. Horn cannot recall a particular moment during which she realized she wanted to be a veterinarian; it was simply her calling.  She pursued her undergraduate studies at Bowdoin College, and it was during her time there that she fell in love with the great state of Maine.

Dr. Horn studied veterinary medicine at Ross University and spent her clinical year at Cornell University. She then completed an internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists before moving back to Maine, where she’s been working ever since.

Years of playing field hockey, beginning in middle school and continuing through her collegiate years, is what Dr. Horn credits with teaching her the value of teamwork and support. She realizes these virtues are crucial to success and happiness in both life and work. Rarebreed has given her the opportunity to combine her passion for veterinary medicine with her desire to support those around her.

Danielle has always wanted to work with animals, often bringing home injured critters to take care of. Her passion for helping animals grew as she went to a vocational-agricultural high school, which set her up perfectly to earn a degree in animal science from Becker College.

Danielle jumped into the field in emergency/referral animal hospitals where she gained a wealth of knowledge and skill. Wanting to be well-rounded, she worked in general practice to focus on anesthesia, but ultimately went back to emergency/specialty. She spent four years as lead technician of an Avian & Exotics Department where she expanded her skills and knowledge to additional species. She is very excited to put her experience to use at Rarebreed. Danielle lives in Connecticut with her boyfriend, beautiful daughter, two stepdaughters, two dogs, three cats, and a crested gecko.

Brian’s interest in working with animals began in middle school when he assisted at a horse barn. He went on to attend Norfolk County Agricultural High School and then Mount Ida College for veterinary technology. Brian is an experienced certified veterinary technician with more than 20 years working in the veterinary field. He is passionate about emergency and critical care, anesthesiology, wildlife medicine, and teaching others veterinary medicine.

Brian loves all four New England seasons and spending time outdoors. In his free time, he enjoys woodworking, gardening, and taking care of his many farm animals, which include alpacas, goats, sheep, mixed poultry, and rabbits.

Dr. David Tubman joined the Rarebreed Medical Operations team in 2021. Before that, he worked in general practice caring for pets in the greater Boston area. He studied cellular and molecular biology at the University of Michigan and then returned to Boston to work in the biotech industry. David then decided to pursue his goal of becoming a veterinarian and graduated from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. After graduation, he moved to Georgia to complete a small animal internship at the Georgia Veterinary Specialists in Atlanta. After that, he worked in emergency medicine in Baltimore. A few years later he returned to Boston and earned a master’s degree in public health from Harvard University. He is now looking forward to his new role in Medical Operations and is excited to help our veterinary partners.

Dr. Danielle Conway is a nutrition residency trained veterinarian with extensive experience in evidence-based integrative medicine. Her pursuit of “helping patients live their best lives” has led to training and working alongside leading professionals countrywide. She has certifications and advanced coursework in veterinary acupuncture, spinal manipulation, rehabilitation, and nutraceutical support. Her approach is to combine traditional medicine with individualized integrative modalities to achieve optimal wellness.

She is excited to share her skills with the Rarebreed network via the creation of nutrition and integrative wellness programs. Her personal interests include researching science-based next-generation wellness techniques, environmental stewardship, and doing anything outdoors, including gardening, skiing, biking, and hiking. She is also passionate about using her integrative training to help reduce veterinary profession burnout.

In addition to a variety of hooved, scaled, feathered and furry companions, Dr. Conway shares her home with her husband and two beautiful and spirited daughters.

Before she became interested in canine rehabilitation, Dr. Bourazak received her master’s in physical therapy from Northwestern University. After 15 years as a physical therapist, she left the profession to study at the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine where her love for anesthesia grew. After graduation, she completed a rotating internship at the University of Georgia and her residency in anesthesia and analgesia at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. Since finishing her residency, Dr. Bourazak has worked in private practice, elevating anesthesia techniques for patients and surgery teams. She has a special interest in locoregional techniques, critical anesthesia, and adjunctive pain management.

Dr. Bourazak loves adventuring outdoors with her partner, her yellow lab mix, Charlie, and her Beagle, Ruth. She is excited to be part of the Medical Operations team at Rarebreed, bringing her passion and experience to our partners and patients.

Gianna’s love for animals began at a young age. She grew up surrounded by a variety of animals and spent her early years volunteering at animal shelters. Gianna earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science and minored in equine studies at the University of Maine in Orono. After graduating in 2018, she began working as a veterinary technician. She has always had a special love for large animals and spends her free time working on dairy farms and horse farms. She also enjoys hiking in the woods with her dogs.

Gianna lives in New Jersey with her four dogs, one cat, one goat, one cow, nine chickens, one sulcata tortoise, three puffer fish, and some ball pythons.

Fun Fact: Nicole obtained a master’s degree in public policy and management, and was accepted into law school, but opted to change gears and pursue a life in the veterinary field alongside her husband.

Nicole joined Rarebreed after spending 15 years managing and owning Stoneledge Animal Hospital alongside her husband, Dr. Mike. They decided to partner with Rarebreed after recognizing how clearly the philosophies and goals of Rarebreed align with the needs and desires of smaller practices. Prior to her career in the veterinary field, Nicole spent 8 years as a human resources professional at Fairchild Semiconductor. She was responsible for hiring IT and engineering professionals in Maine and Silicon Valley. She also managed Fairchild’s Immigration program globally and was the HR business partner to their Corporate Legal group. In her spare time, Nicole loves spending time with her husband, their girls and their 2 French Bulldog pups, Mabel and Henry. She also loves to garden and design and re-design rooms in their home.

Tina comes to Rarebreed with 20+ years of experience in the veterinary industry. She brings with her experience in project, program, and platform management, learning and development, strategic planning, and marketing. Tina graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a BA in communications. She also holds a project management certification from the University of Maine, and ATD certificates in evaluating learning impact and change management. Tina lives in Gorham, Maine, with her family and furry friends fat cat Penelope, rescue mutt Maggie, and Bernedoodle Otis. In her downtime she can be found running, hiking, kayaking, working in the garden, or on a beach somewhere with her family.

Before joining Rarebreed, Brenda spent 10 years at IDEXX, growing the IDEXX Learning Center’s curriculum and technology ecosystem and developing a community of learning programs for partners and customers. She has extensive experience in developing successful, innovative learning programs across the veterinary and high-tech industries. Brenda brings her lifelong passion for animals and learning to Rarebreed and feels they are a perfect complement to Rarebreed’s mission of love, respect and fun.

Brenda’s education includes a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University and project management certification from the University of Southern Maine. She lives in Saco, Maine, and enjoys time with family and friends, outdoor and creative activities, and the state’s beautiful beaches.

Spencer has a long history of veterinary experiences having spent a decade working in a wide range of hospitals, including emergency and specialty, primary care, and non-profit wellness while wearing every hat available, short of “veterinarian.” A less-than-ideal onboarding experience at a prior job helped him fully appreciate first impressions and ultimately fueled his desire to help new partners and their teams navigate the onboarding journey.

Spencer is a fitness enthusiast and shares his life with his tapdancing Irish Setter named Fire, his office assistant Jamal the betta fish, and his partner.

Sue Santerre

Sue’s road to Rarebreed wasn’t a well-traveled route through the vet industry but a less-traveled one through NASCAR and the racing industry. In a career that spanned over 15 years, Sue traveled the country and gained experiences that included public relations, marketing, travel logistics, event planning, sponsorship, and team management. The sixth employee at Rarebreed, Sue built the Onboarding Department and created and documented a repeatable process that saw Rarebreed grow from one hospital to 67 in less than three years. Sue currently uses her talents at Rarebreed to build processes and procedures for the operational teams serving Rarebreed’s thriving community of veterinary hospitals.

When not working, you’ll find Sue stitching, reading a book, doing a puzzle, or coaching youth sports. She lives in North Yarmouth, Maine, with her husband, two daughters, and her handsome four-legged man, Scout.

Renee came to Rarebreed with experience in human services, as well as helping youth, families and individuals with disabilities reach their highest potential in life, whether that’s socially, educationally or professionally.

Outside of work, Renee enjoys valuable time with family, gardening, hiking, photography, reading, music, knitting, playtime with her dog, Oakley, or snuggle sessions with her cat, Elle.

Katie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of recruitment strategies to Rarebreed. She began her career in IT staffing and found a passion for recruitment. A few years after gaining invaluable recruitment experience, she realized that her skills could translate to the veterinary industry and has been helping veterinary professionals find their perfect positions ever since.

Katie loves getting to know her candidates and giving them a top-notch experience through the recruitment process, personalizing each situation to what each person needs. She is excited to be working with Rarebreed to connect candidates with great working environments and a supportive company.

In her spare time, you can find Katie spending time with her six cats (she’s not crazy), her husband, who she met while working at Disney in college, and spending time with her friends outdoors! She loves golf, exercise, cooking and playing video games.

Regina Imbesi

Regina began her veterinary career as a technician at an animal shelter near her home in New Jersey. Eventually, she fell in love with emergency medicine and spent the next 15 years as an emergency and critical care veterinary nurse. Her entry into recruiting was in human healthcare, but her goal was to recruit in the veterinary field. She is thrilled to join Rarebreed, a company that shares her vision for supporting veterinary staff while offering excellent veterinary care.

In her free time, Regina enjoys exploring new parks with her family and wonderful Pitbull, Elvis. She also loves trying new restaurants with her husband and friends.

Her goal at Rarebreed is to provide a great candidate experience and make everyone feel welcomed and appreciated.

Shelby has a Bachelor’s Degrees in Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies and is a proud University of Oregon Duck. On the weekends you’ll find her watching football, enjoying Oregon’s wine country or binge watching “The Office.”

Josiah grew up in Vancouver, Washington, and attended the University of Portland, majoring in organizational communications and minoring in political science. After graduation, he moved back to the Vancouver area and began his career in recruitment. Josiah enjoys spending his free time with his partner, two dogs, Kevin and Drago, traveling for volleyball, and playing video games.

Fun Fact: Brittany is not afraid to take solo trips and has been to Bali, Costa Rico, and London on her own.

Brittany holds a bachelor’s degree in communicative sciences and disorders from Michigan State University and still attends their sporting events frequently. She has extensive experience recruiting in the IT, automotive, and healthcare industries and genuinely loves connecting with people. Brittany’s love for animals led her to work at a veterinary ER and specialty hospital in the client services department where she gained her veterinary assistant certification.

In her spare time, Brittany enjoys interior design, horseback riding, and sporting events. She is a vegetarian and enjoys cooking new and innovative vegetarian dishes.

Annie has worked in both the recruiting and veterinary industries and loves them both. She began her career in general practice and specialty medicine as a CSR and veterinary assistant for a rehab practice, and then spent several years in technical recruiting. Before joining Rarebreed she was the sole recruiter for DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Annie holds a bachelor’s in communication and linguistics with a focus on American sign language from The Evergreen State College, a wonderful hippie school out in the woods of Washington State. In her spare time, she likes to read in her home library, cuddle with her cats, Kai and Miro, go target shooting with her husband, and support the arts in her community.

Matt Campbell

Fun Fact: Matt participated seven times in one of the most beautiful bike rides in the United States – a century (100-mile) ride – to raise money for cancer research.

As a junior at Hobart College, Matt was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. His parents surprised him with Jackson, a black Labrador Retriever puppy who stayed by his side during all his treatments. Jackson provided loyal companionship, comfort and unconditional love that helped Matt become a cancer survivor.

In 2012, Matt resigned from a New York-based hedge fund – where he was a successful portfolio manager – and moved to Maine, seeking better work-life balance for him and his family. After five years of working as an entrepreneur and investor in various companies, Matt met Rarebreed co-founder Dan Espinal, who shared his vision for Rarebreed.

Matt is excited to be a part of a company that prioritizes positive work environments and collaborative culture throughout veterinary clinics, with a mission to take care of people who take care of animals.

Sam is a native of the Syracuse, New York, area where she began her career as a kennel attendant at a local shelter. She found her purpose there and pursued her passion for animals by attending Mount Ida College to obtain her veterinary technology degree. She moved to Nantucket where she excelled in general practice and became a member of the New England Aquarium Marine Mammal Field Response Team. After leaving Nantucket, Sam worked for an emergency and referral hospital where she spent time in the ER/ICU and in dermatology and later worked as a supervisor. Taking a step out of practice, she refined her skills as a practice consultant.

Sam lives in the hamlet of Leeds, New York, with her wife, her dog, Petunia, three cats, Gilly, Max, and Tomato, and 15 chickens. She enjoys homesteading and restoring her 1890 farmhouse.
