Nick’s years of business development experience have been gained from both the human and veterinary healthcare industries. During his career he developed an affinity for the animal health field working alongside some incredible, high-performing veterinary teams. As part of the Rarebreed business development team, he spends much of his time listening to hospital owners to help find the best solution for their healthcare teams, their patients, and pet owners.

Nick was born and raised in the western New York area where he lives today with his wife, two boys, and their Australian Shepherd, Penny. Nick regularly entertains family and friends, and enjoys most outdoor activities like hiking, hunting, skiing, and riding ATVs. When he’s not working, he and his wife can often be found traveling around town attending their sons’ sporting events.

Born and raised in small-town America, Dr. Ouellette wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as he can remember. Those aspirations never wavered as he navigated through his academic years, ultimately culminating in a rewarding life spent giving care to those without a voice – and counsel to those that love them.

Dr. Ouellette knows the challenges and rewards of veterinary life at every level, from early days as a receptionist at a busy Montreal clinic, to his current role as partner and practice leader at Casco Bay Veterinary Hospital.

By sharing insights into what binds devoted animal caretakers and shining a light on the profession’s opportunities for improvement, he hopes to play a role in helping colleagues achieve both personal and professional success by enjoying the benefits of a Rarebreed partnership.

Justin grew up in Tolland, Connecticut, in a small family where all they knew was sports. Whether it was going to UConn basketball games during the week, or Red Sox games on the weekend, there was always athletics involved. He recently moved to Scarborough, Maine, and is excited to go on adventures and see all that Vacationland has to offer.

Justin graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2021 with a degree in finance. He was a Rarebreed intern before joining full-time. Before that, he interned at Retirement Visions LLC and Virtus Asset Management. Justin has always had a soft spot in his heart for animals and wants to do everything he can to help deliver them the best possible veterinary experience.

Pat Doyle

Director of Corporate Development & Strategy

Fun Fact: Pat’s a twin.

Pet in Photo: LuLu

Pat grew up on a farm in New Hampshire with his sisters and plenty of animals. Weekends consisted of lacrosse tournaments or bailing and delivering hay to surrounding towns, which Pat quickly learned was not normal for most teenage boys in New Hampshire. His first job was at a local grain and hardware store, where among other things, he got his family a nice discount!

Pat earned a degree in finance and analytics with a minor in computer science from the University of New Hampshire. He met Dan and Sean during his internship at IDEXX where he spent his summer on the Corporate Development and Strategy team. After graduating, Pat worked at a real estate investment firm before joining Rarebreed to help build its partnership network. Outside of work you can find Pat out with his dogs, Lulu and Bruin, or at Jibe cycling studio.

Matt Campbell

Chief Experience Officer

Fun Fact: Matt participated seven times in one of the most beautiful bike rides in the United States – a century (100-mile) ride – to raise money for cancer research.

Pet in Photo: Otis and Ziggy

As a junior at Hobart College, Matt was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. His parents surprised him with Jackson, a black Labrador Retriever puppy who stayed by his side during all his treatments. Jackson provided loyal companionship, comfort and unconditional love that helped Matt become a cancer survivor.

In 2012, Matt resigned from a New York-based hedge fund – where he was a successful portfolio manager – and moved to Maine, seeking better work-life balance for him and his family. After five years of working as an entrepreneur and investor in various companies, Matt met Rarebreed co-founder Dan Espinal, who shared his vision for Rarebreed.

Matt is excited to be a part of a company that prioritizes positive work environments and collaborative culture throughout veterinary clinics, with a mission to take care of people who take care of animals.
