Back in the Ocean
We have a wonderful update for those following Sealena and her journey: she, along with four other seal pups have been released back to the wild! Read about the tiny harbor seal pup Sealena Gomez, who was rescued and rehabbed thanks to amazing team at Marine Mammals of Maine (MMoME) in our previous post. Meet Sealena Gomez: Part 1 or watch our reel of Sealena on Rarebreed’s Facebook page.
Rarebreed has an ongoing relationship with MMoME and is proud to sponsor and support her care, rehab and more.
Released Back into the Wild
On September 8, 2026, Sealena, along with four other rehabbed seal pups were released back into the wild at Head Beach in Phippsburg, Maine. They had reached a healthy weight and received final clearance. Sealena and her friends were ready to thrive together in the wild.
We were able to witness the powerful moments of each seal returning home to the ocean.
The ultimate goal of a rehab program like MMoME is to return healthy animals back to their natural habitat, so the entire Rarebreed team is invested in the great work the team is doing for all marine mammals they support. Thank you to everyone involved!
You Can Make an Impact
The compassionate care Sealena received is made possible because of donations and you can help make an impact.
Every single monetary donation, wish list item, and message of encouragement was needed to return these five pups to the wild.
