National Veterinary Technician Week: Celebrating the ‘Heart and Soul’ of Our Veterinary Communities
We are honored to celebrate National Veterinary Technician Week, October 17-23!
Our message to veterinary technicians — this week and always — is that we recognize and appreciate the significant impact you have on the animal health profession, working on the frontlines to ensure the best patient outcomes.
“Veterinary technicians are the glue that holds our practices together and are integral to the day-to-day function of our hospitals,” said Sean Miller, Rarebreed COO and co-founder. “We understand that their jobs can be demanding and stressful – it takes a special kind of person to do what they do, and we are committed to making them feel valued every day.”
This year’s National Veterinary Technician Week theme focuses on self-care. We are passionate about your health and well-being and are grateful for the opportunity to spread extra love this week, to encourage you to care for yourselves as much as you care for our pets, and to ask that you focus on a healthy work-life balance – whatever that means for you.
The long hours, pressures of meeting the needs of both patients and owners, and the emotionally taxing nature of the job can lead to anxiety, fatigue and burnout among veterinary technicians. Take the time you need for yourself and your family – make it a priority to recharge often.
As people began spending more time at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, pet adoptions soared – along with the demand for veterinary care. Your patience with first-time pet owners is invaluable to the success of these new pet households, as clients rely on your wisdom and skill to help them manage new territory.
“Our veterinary technicians are a talented, caring, resilient team, and the heart and soul of our veterinary practices,” said Dan Espinal, Rarebreed CEO and co-founder. “They have sharp minds and caring hearts, and we are forever grateful for their contributions to our hospitals’ successes.”
We are honored to work side-by-side with you, our smart, compassionate team members. And we want to say a very big thank you to all our veterinary technicians and support staff!
We understand that not only knees and backs can get sore in this work, but also hearts and minds. Learn how Rarebreed supports our team members’ wellness here.
